Launcher of Blogs

You know that feeling when you get a work or school assignment and just think “Do I really have to?”. When I found out that the Launch School curriculum includes starting and maintaining a blog I wasn’t exactly enthused. Putting long text out into the public space without the barrier of a specific project or goal, just laying out your thought process for public consumption, makes me uncomfortable.

And honestly, that’s the reason I think its probably a good thing. It’s an opportunity for growth in a way I wasn’t looking for, but who knows where it could lead me? It’s possible, and most likely, that I’ll end up doing just enough to feel like I’ve met requirements and this blog will fade into internet archives like many, many others. Or it’ll turn into a journal that I’ll keep for the rest of my life. Or it might just turn into a habit for me to see something interesting and take my thoughts, put them in writing, and really solidify my understanding of something new.

So I’m going to go for it. I have a weak plan to start off with a series of short posts detailing how I went from my engineering career to Launch School, just to try and build the habit. After that? Probably your typical LS posts on programming tools and tricks and have been done before, but really help us internalize what’s going on in this new field. Maybe some on the process itself, or on other highlights from stuff I’m working on.

All of that to say: Hello! My name is Andrew and this is the start of my new blog. I hope you find something of interest.
